About AsLEA

Founded in 2005, the Asian Law and Economics Association (AsLEA) commits to advancing the study and application of law and economics in Asia. Each year, AsLEA’s annual conference gathers accomplished scholars from leading universities and research institutions across Asia and globally to discuss the latest developments in law and economics, with a particular focus on applying these tools to address legal issues in Asia.

To date, AsLEA has successfully organized 20 conferences across major Asian cities, including Tokyo, Taipei, Beijing, and Seoul. These conferences have covered a broad spectrum of topics, including artificial intelligence, sustainability, intellectual property, antitrust law, environmental law, corporate law, and financial market regulation, reflecting both the diversity of global law and economics research and the strong interest and specific needs of Asian regions in these areas.

These conferences not only offer a platform for Asian scholars to present and discuss their research but also foster collaboration between Asian and international scholars. Through these exchanges, AsLEA has strengthened the application of law and economics in Asia, promoted empirical research in legal policy, and provided both theoretical and practical guidance for optimizing legal systems. Moreover, the conference has played a pivotal role in building a strong academic community within Asia, while also integrating Asian law and economics research into the global discourse, contributing to the development of the field on a worldwide scale.
